UPPER DECK ADDS TWIST TO TIGER WOODS SWEEPSTAKES CLINIC; WINNERS TO COMPETE IN 'TIGER TRIATHLON' FOR GRAND PRIZE

Events Include Oversized Check Obstacle Course, Golf Ball Autograph Signing Race, 10-Ft. Putt-Off

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- June 18, 2004 -- Upper Deck today announced the addition of a twist to its "Go for the Gold" sweepstakes golf clinic in Orlando, Fla. on Oct. 18: along with one-on-one instruction with Tiger Woods, the 10 winners will compete in three highly unique events, putting them in the shoes of the world's No. 1 player for a day.

Titled "The Tiger Triathlon," the day-of contest will simulate Woods' daily on- and off-course duties and will be comprised of an obstacle course while carrying an oversized tournament winner's check, a golf ball autograph signing race and a 10-foot putt-off. The winner will receive a limited-edition set of Tiger Woods Upper Deck authenticated collectibles for both themselves and the hometown retailer that originally sold them the winning pack.

"The goal of the event is to underline what Upper Deck has done successfully with its golf products for the last four years: take the fan from behind the ropes, put them in the spikes of their favorite golfer -- and capture for them that same match-day intensity," said Upper Deck director of marketing Bruce Schragin.

"By adding the retailer element, we're hoping that our winners will now have a built-in trainer, somebody who can help them prepare for the big event, as they too have something at stake," he continued.

Upper Deck has teamed with Woods since 2001 to put on this sweepstakes clinic. However, this is the first year collectors will find out immediately if they've won the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the eight-time major championship winner by pulling a Golden Ball Marker card. A month after hitting store shelves, none of the 10 instant-winner cards have been found.
